The experience

Ten hours gives you room to move between regions without rushing. Rather than follow a set route, you work with your guide to shape the day around what matters to you, whether that's photography at Peyto Lake's turquoise waters, a walk along Lake Louise's shoreline trail past the Victoria Glacier, or time at Takakkaw Falls, where glacier-fed water drops 373 meters. The Icefields Parkway connects many of these stops, and your guide knows where to pull over for views: Big Bend and Panther Falls viewpoints break up the drive with valley vistas.

Private transportation means no schedule pressure and no waiting for a group to gather. You stop when light is good, when a trail calls, or when you want to sit by the water. Emerald Lake in Yoho sits in a turquoise basin ringed by peaks. Marble Canyon is a short, easy walk through a limestone gorge carved by rushing water. Lake Minnewanka, Banff's largest glacial lake, works for a picnic with mountain views or as a base for spotting wildlife. Your guide speaks English and carries knowledge of the parks' history and wildlife. The Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre in Jasper offers exhibits and high-altitude dining if you want to add that stop.

National park entrance fees and bottled water come with the booking. Meals, attraction tickets (like the Icefields Explorer ATV or Skywalk, or a Lake Minnewanka boat cruise), and specialized infant seats are separate. Pickup is included. You'll confirm the time and location when you book.

Is this one for you?The full ten hours and the flexibility to linger mean you're not racing between stops. You can spend an hour at Lake Louise or take the short walk through Marble Canyon without cutting into time elsewhere. If you want to add paid extras like the Icefields Explorer or a boat cruise on Lake Minnewanka, your guide can work those in, but the core tour stands on its own without them.

Top questions

What is Peyto Lake like when you get there?

Peyto Lake sits at Bow Summit on the Icefields Parkway and is known for its brilliant turquoise color, shaped like a wolf's head when viewed from above. A short paved trail leads to the viewpoint, and the lake is one of the most photographed alpine lakes in the Canadian Rockies.

Can you stop at multiple parks in one day?

Yes. The tour covers Banff, Yoho and Icefields Parks, and you choose which attractions to visit based on your interests and how much time you want to spend at each one. Your guide can mix stops across all three regions or focus on one park if you prefer.

How much walking is involved?

Walking varies by which stops you choose. Lake Louise has a shoreline trail you can walk at your own pace; Peyto Lake has a short paved trail; Marble Canyon is an easy, short hike through a gorge; Takakkaw Falls has accessible viewing platforms. You decide how much or how little to walk.

What happens at Takakkaw Falls?

Takakkaw Falls is one of Canada's highest waterfalls, plunging 373 meters in Yoho National Park. You can photograph the cascades, feel the spray from glacier-fed water, and explore accessible viewing platforms in the Yoho Valley.

Is there time to eat during the tour?

The ten-hour day gives you time to stop and eat, but meals are not included. The Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre has a restaurant at high altitude if you want to dine there. Otherwise, you can pack food or eat at a stop along the way.
