The experience
How do you spend a day in the Rockies when you don't want to be herded through five stops on a fixed schedule? Asad, who founded Calgary Premier Transport, runs this tour himself: he picks you up from your door anywhere in Calgary, drives you in a black Mercedes E-Class, and before the day starts, he sets up a video call to build the itinerary together. You're not choosing from a menu of pre-set options. You're telling him what matters to you (a real hike, easy strolls, the gondola, a boat cruise, lunch in Banff), and he arranges the day around those choices and the time you want to spend at each place.
The stops themselves are the ones most visitors come for, but you reach them without the rush. Lake Louise opens the day at its calmest, with the option to walk the lakeshore trail or hike up to the Lake Agnes Tea House if your group wants a longer climb. Johnston Canyon's catwalk follows the canyon walls for about 20 minutes each way to the Lower Falls, with the Upper Falls as an option. Banff Avenue gives you time to browse shops and galleries, and Asad will book a lunch reservation that fits your group. The Banff Gondola takes you to the summit of Sulphur Mountain for 360-degree views of six mountain ranges. Asad books your tickets in advance so you walk straight on. Bow Falls is a short stop with good photo angles, and Lake Minnewanka, the largest lake in the park, closes the day with a shoreline walk or a scenic boat cruise in summer if you want it.
The vehicle is air-conditioned and seats up to four comfortably, most often two or three. Asad brings snacks, coffee, and tea for your group, and he's happy to walk the trails with you and make sure everyone is in the pictures. Child seats are available for ages 2–4. The whole day runs 8 to 10 hours from your pickup in Calgary, and because nothing is rushed, you move at a pace that actually lets you take in what you're seeing.

Is this one for you?The day runs 8 to 10 hours and involves walking at each stop (from the lakeshore at Lake Louise to the catwalk at Johnston Canyon to the summit boardwalk at Sulphur Mountain), so you'll be on your feet for stretches, but Asad moves at your pace and there's no rushing between sites. If you want to see the main Rockies landmarks without a fixed schedule or a group of strangers, this suits you. If you prefer a shorter outing or a fully guided hike with instruction, a different tour may fit better.

Top questions
What's the drive time from Calgary to the first stop at Lake Louise?
Lake Louise is roughly 90 minutes from Calgary, so you'll arrive while the lake is still calm in the early morning. Asad picks you up from your door in Calgary and drives you straight there to start the day.
Can I choose which stops we visit, or is the itinerary fixed?
You build the itinerary together on a video call before your tour. Asad shows you the options (Lake Louise, Johnston Canyon, Banff Avenue, the Banff Gondola, Bow Falls, and Lake Minnewanka), and you pick which ones matter to your group and how long to spend at each one.
Does the tour include the gondola ticket and the boat cruise?
Asad books both the Banff Gondola tickets and the Lake Minnewanka boat cruise in advance so there's no waiting in line, but the cost of those tickets and the cruise is separate. Meals in Banff are also at your own expense, though he'll reserve a restaurant for you ahead of time.
What's Johnston Canyon like if we're not experienced hikers?
Johnston Canyon has a well-built catwalk trail that follows the canyon walls to the Lower Falls, about 20 minutes each way. It's an easy walk, not a hike, and the trail is paved and maintained. You can stop at the Lower Falls or continue to the Upper Falls if your group wants to go further.
Is there WiFi in the car during the drive?
Onboard WiFi is available throughout the drive, though the signal can be limited in parts of the mountains and inside the national park. The connection is most reliable on the highway sections between Calgary and Banff.
