You’ll wander Nova Scotia’s valley vineyards at your own pace, tasting local wines and soaking up stories from real people who live here. No crowds or rush—just good company, fresh air, and plenty of time to enjoy every glass.
Morning air in the Annapolis Valley always feels a bit crisp, even in July. We started our day winding through quiet backroads, windows cracked just enough to catch that earthy scent from the fields. Our guide—local, chatty, knew every shortcut—shared stories about Champlain’s early vines and how the valley’s weather shapes each vintage. First stop was Domaine de Grand Pré Winery. The stone buildings looked almost European, and you could hear bees buzzing around the lavender by the entrance. We wandered through rows of vines, glass in hand, sampling a white that tasted almost salty from the Bay breezes.
No big groups here—just us and a couple from Halifax who’d come down for the weekend. We took our time at each spot; nobody rushed us along. At one of the newer wineries (can’t remember the name—something with “ridge” in it), we chatted with the winemaker himself while he poured us a rosé straight from the barrel. Lunch was on our own, so we grabbed sandwiches from a roadside café called The Nook—try their smoked salmon if you’re hungry. By late afternoon, my shoes were dusty and my phone full of vineyard photos I’ll probably never delete. If you’re thinking of coming, bring layers—the breeze off Fundy can surprise you.
You’ll purchase your own wine and meals during the tour—that way you can choose exactly what you like at each stop.
