The experience
Eight to nine hours means you leave Toronto in the morning and return by evening, with the guide narrating the route and stopping at each site. The coach picks you up from downtown Toronto hotels or selected locations, so you don't arrange transport yourself. You start at Table Rock Welcome Centre right at the Horseshoe Falls (close enough to feel the spray and hear the roar), then ride the Niagara SkyWheel for views across the gorge and the American Falls. The Floral Clock comes next, its face planted with up to 16,000 carpet bedding plants and changed twice a year by Niagara Parks staff.
From there the tour moves to Niagara-on-the-Lake Heritage District, where you walk through shops and period storefronts dating to the 1920s and 30s. You'll pass the Whirlpool Rapids where the Niagara River surges through the Great Gorge, the Botanical Gardens and Butterfly Conservatory along the scenic Niagara Parkway, and the Sir Adam Beck I Generating Station, which has supplied Ontario with hydroelectric power since 1921. The route also includes Clifton Hill, the entertainment strip lined with attractions and restaurants, and a pass-by view of the Rainbow Bridge connecting Canada and the United States. Depending on which option you book, you get dinner or lunch at a restaurant in the falls area.
The coach is air-conditioned and WiFi-equipped. You receive a bottle of water and a complimentary souvenir. The tour is wheelchair accessible, and specialized infant seats are available if you're traveling with small children. Public transit stops are nearby the pickup points.
