The experience
Tours start at Queens Marquee with comprehensive training and practice time on the Segway before you leave the starting point. Once you're comfortable, the guide leads you through Halifax's downtown, passing Government House, the Old Burying Ground, St. Mary's Cathedral Basilica and the Halifax Central Library. You'll ride up Spring Garden Road to see the basilica in the heart of the city, then stop at the new library: a work of art and a staple in Halifax's cultural landscape.
The route takes you into the Halifax Public Gardens, where you step off the Segway and walk through the historic grounds at your own pace, with the option to grab refreshments. From there you climb to Citadel Hill and the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, where you get a 10-minute stop to take in the views of Halifax and the surrounding area. The guide explains the history as you move through each stop, so you understand what you're looking at instead of just passing by.
The final stretch rolls along Argyle Street, Halifax's nightlife hub, and into Grand Parade Square, where you stop for an iconic photo and learn about City Hall, the oldest building in the city, the war memorials and the area's history. You'll pass the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, Province House and the waterfront shops before returning to Queens Marquee. The whole day is paced by the guide, so you don't have to figure out which direction to go or how long to spend at each spot.
