You start and finish at Granville Island, where the guide gives you a rundown of Vancouver's history and current ventures before you push off into smooth water. The paddle takes you through False Creek, exploring the waterways that frame the city's most recognizable landmarks. You'll pass the floating homes and historic buildings of Granville Island itself, then paddle the length of False Creek toward its mouth, passing the Vancouver Olympic Village where athletes stayed during the 2010 games, and the art installations set in the water off the surrounding parks.

The route carries you past Science World at the end of False Creek and into views of downtown Vancouver's bright lights and skyscrapers rising from the water. A local guide leads the paddle and handles the narration, so you're free to focus on the rhythm of the paddle and the sightlines opening up as you move through the city's waterways. The water is typically smooth at this time of day, which is part of why this is the operator's most popular paddle tour.

Midway through, you beach the kayak and step out for a coffee and snack to refuel before heading back. You'll use either a sit-on-top kayak or a sea kayak, depending on what's available, and the operator provides the paddle and life vest. Single kayaks fit one paddler; double kayaks hold two, with children from age 10 able to ride in the front with an adult in the back.
