Step-by-step itinerary
Fraser River scenic rafting adventure
- Begin scenic raft adventure
- Enjoy bouncy wave trains and whirlpools
- Watch for wildlife along river
- Swim holding rope alongside raft
- Experience waterfall cold shower
- Relax and enjoy mountain views
The experience
The raft carries 6 to 8 paddlers plus your guide down a stretch of the Fraser River where the water stays warm enough to jump into during designated sections. You hold a rope tethered to the raft and float alongside as it carries you downstream: a moment most rafting trips don't offer. The guide steers you through bouncy wave trains and spinning whirlpools, and at one point takes the raft underneath a pouring waterfall so you can rinse off in the cold spray.
Paddling is entirely optional. If you'd rather watch the steep canyon walls, surrounding forest and the wildlife (eagles, osprey, black bear, marmots and river otters), you can sit back and let the guide and other paddlers move the raft. The summer canyon climate runs hot, 30 to 35 degrees Celsius, so most people appreciate the chance to cool off in the water or under the waterfall.
Lunch arrives on the resort's riverside dining deck after the paddle. Before and after your time on the water, you have access to the resort facilities and amenities for an hour each. The resort provides a lifejacket, optional wetsuits, free parking and free WiFi. Special dietary requests need 24 hours notice. Trips run rain or shine, and the operator reserves the right to switch rivers if water levels change.
