Canyoning in Port Alice: Rappel & Swim Waterfalls
Control your descent into waterfalls you've only seen from a distance
Canyoning in Port Alice, BC puts you inside the waterfalls instead of looking at them from shore. You rappel, climb, and swim through canyon pools carved by water over centuries, with a certified guide, wetsuit, helmet and harness included. Three options let you pick the intensity: a quick taster, a multi-rappel explorer run, or the full-day conquest with nine descents and natural slides. Minimum age is 12. Moderate fitness required.

Port Alice canyoning is built around one thing: getting you into the water and down the rock face instead of watching from a trail. You start at the base of the falls, suit up in a wetsuit and harness, then climb to the top of the second cascade. After a rappel tutorial on solid ground, you descend directly into the waterfall. The harness holds, the guide is anchored above you, and the adrenaline is real. The trip ends in a crystal-clear pool where you can swim and float and let the canyon walls close around you.
The three options scale the same way: more height, more rappels, more canyon. The Taster covers one vertical drop into a deep pool and a rappel down a massive waterfall with natural ledges. The Explorer adds a short hike higher into the canyon and multiple descents, each one building your confidence on the rope. The Conquest is the full day: a hike to the top with sweeping views, then nine rappels, natural slides, downclimbs, and optional jumps if you want them. By the end you've pushed your limits and finished with a sense of accomplishment that doesn't fade fast.
Bring running shoes or light hiking shoes that can get wet. Water shoes and sandals won't work. The guide speaks English and keeps groups small enough that you get real attention on the rope. You'll need a moderate level of fitness (this is not a passive experience), and a willingness to trust the gear and the person managing it.

Is this one for you?Pick the Taster if you have a free afternoon and want to try rappelling without a full day commitment. Choose the Explorer if you've done some climbing or want multiple descents to build real skill. Book the Conquest if you have a full day free and want to push yourself: nine rappels and natural slides deliver the kind of tiredness that feels earned.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
I've never rappelled before, can I still do the canyoning in Port Alice?
Yes. The Taster and Explorer both start with a rappel tutorial on solid ground before you touch the waterfall, and the guide builds your confidence as you go. First-timers make up most of the groups, and the routes are designed to work for people trying this for the first time.
What's the difference between the Taster, Explorer, and Conquest options?
The Taster runs 2–3 hours and covers one rappel into a pool and a descent down a waterfall. The Explorer takes 3–4 hours and adds multiple rappels and a higher climb into the canyon. The Conquest is the full day: 6–8 hours with nine rappels, natural slides, downclimbs, and optional jumps, ending with a real sense of accomplishment.
Do I need to bring my own wetsuit and climbing gear?
No. A certified guide, wetsuit, harness, and helmet are all included. You bring running or light hiking shoes that can get wet. Water shoes won't work.
How fit do I need to be for canyoning in Port Alice?
You need at least a moderate level of physical fitness. Canyoning involves climbing, rappelling, and swimming, so stamina and basic strength matter. The guide will assess your fitness on the day and adjust the pace if needed.
