The experience
The tour starts before dawn at Angkor Wat so you're in position for sunrise, then moves through the complex at a pace only a private guide can set. After Ta Prohm (the temple overgrown by jungle that appeared in the Tomb Raider films), you'll reach Bayon, where more than a thousand carved Buddha faces cover the towers. A lunch break at a local restaurant breaks up the day before you explore Angkor Thom and the jungle temple Preah Khan, where stone corridors wind through dense vegetation.
Day two takes you to Banteay Srei, built from pink sandstone with intricate carvings that stand apart from the larger temples. The route then covers smaller sites: Neak Poan, an island temple in a flooded basin; Ta Som, where a massive fig tree has grown over the eastern gate; and the brick-built East Mebon. Pre Rup comes next: a quiet spot to rest before the final stop. The day ends at Phnom Bakheng, a hilltop Hindu temple built around the mid-10th century, where your guide will position you for sunset from the top.
Transport is by private air-conditioned SUV or minivan, so you travel with only your group. The driver handles toll roads and parking. Your guide is accredited and speaks English. The operator also offers a photographer guide if you want professional images of the temples and the light. Wear walking shoes, bring sunblock and mosquito repellent, and dress to cover your knees and shoulders at the holy sites.

Is this one for you?Book this tour if you want to move through Angkor at your own pace without joining other groups or waiting for a shared departure time. The private vehicle and dedicated guide let you spend longer at temples that interest you and skip those that don't, which is the main advantage over a shared group tour covering the same sites.
