The experience
Your day starts with a pickup at your hotel or airport, then a drive to Campo de Marte Airport in the north of São Paulo. Once there, the commander briefs you on the aircraft and the boarding process before you take off. The helicopter (a Robinson R22 BETA II, R44 Raven II, or AS350 Esquilo depending on group size) climbs into the air, and the city unfolds below you in a way no ground-level tour can match.
The flight path takes you over more than 10 neighborhoods and more than 20 tourist attractions. You'll see Ibirapuera Park, elected by The Guardian as the world's best park, with its lake and fountains visible from above. Paulista Avenue spreads out below: 130 years of Brazilian history compressed into one boulevard. The Catedral da Sé, one of the world's five largest Neo-Gothic cathedrals, sits at the zero milestone of São Paulo. You pass over the Sambódromo do Anhembi, Oscar Niemeyer's masterpiece that has hosted Carnival parades since 1991, and the Pacaembu Stadium, which hosted the 1950 World Cup. The Municipal Market, Luz Station, the Municipal Theater, and the Ipiranga Museum (where Dom Pedro I declared Brazil's independence in 1822) all appear as the pilot narrates what you're seeing.
The tour lasts either 20 or 30 minutes depending on which option you book. Transport by fully-equipped vehicle, heliport landing and facility fees, passenger insurance, and all taxes and tolls are included. The commander's live commentary in English or Portuguese keeps pace with the flight, so you understand what you're looking at as the city passes beneath you. You return to Campo de Marte and are driven back to your hotel or airport.
