The Experience
You meet your guide in either Brooklin or Itaim Bibi, depending on which departure you pick. The tour opens with the cable-stayed bridge—a 138-meter X-shaped structure that is the only one of its kind in the world, with two independent curved lanes. From there, you move through the modern business districts, past the Itaú Cultural center and the upscale Jardins neighborhood, where you'll see the Hotel Unique with its distinctive curved architecture overlooking Ibirapuera Park.
The tour includes a short guided stop at Dengo Chocolates' flagship store, where you learn how Brazilian cacao moves from bean to bar and taste the results. You'll spend time at Ibirapuera Park—elected by The Guardian as the world's best park—where you can take in the 360-degree city views from the MAC Museum terrace. Then comes Batman's Alley in Vila Madalena, a stretch of high-walled residences covered in constantly changing spray-paint murals that make it the heart of São Paulo's street art scene. Lunch happens at a traditional Brazilian steakhouse with a self-service buffet of grilled meats, fresh salads, and vegetarian dishes.
After lunch, the route moves through downtown: the Japanese neighborhood of Liberdade with its distinctive street lamps, the Sé Cathedral (inspired by medieval European churches and marking the city's ground zero), the Monastery of São Bento (where Gregorian chant masses draw both believers and visitors, and monks sell their own breads and jams), and the São Paulo Municipal Market, packed with fruits, nuts, wines, cheeses, and foods from across Brazil. The tour ends with a walk along Paulista Avenue before returning to your starting point. Many travelers choose to stay in the Paulista area for the afternoon instead of heading back.
