The experience
The tour starts at your hotel in central Bonito with pickup and a short transfer to the site. A video presentation orients you to the cave system before you begin. The walk opens with a cozy trail through the cerrado where birds and wild animals appear as you move through the landscape. This is the region's natural greeting to visitors.
The centerpiece is a suspended trail that runs 200 meters through the treetops on a suspension bridge, giving you a perspective from inside the canopy rather than below it. The bridge crosses the cerrado at height, and the view expands when you reach the viewpoint overlooking the region. From there, the path continues another 150 meters of trail to the cave entrance. Inside, the dry cavity lets you walk alongside the geological formations (stalactites, stalagmites, travertines, and coral-like limestone nests) without the moisture that would make them fragile. A barn owl inhabits the cave and is sometimes visible among the formations.
The whole experience runs 90 minutes. Wear sneakers or fixed shoes with rubber soles, bring water and a snack in a backpack, and dress in light layers. Sunscreen and insect repellent are recommended. Children must be at least 5 years old. Groups are capped at 15 people per visit to reduce environmental impact on the site.
