The experience
The tour starts with pickup from your Maceió hotel and heads north to Paripueira Beach, a sheltered stretch known for shallow, clear water. Your base for the day is a Beach Club with live music, a children's playground, beach tennis, and regional food. The real draw is the optional boat tour to natural pools formed in the coral banks. You'll swim alongside fish in water that stays calm enough for snorkeling. Scuba diving is also available if you want to go deeper into the reef.
A second optional excursion takes you by jeep to Carro Quebrado, one of Brazil's least-crowded beaches, where multicolored cliff faces rise behind the sand. The ride itself is part of the experience: you're crossing terrain most visitors to Maceió never reach. On the return to the city, the tour stops at a candy shop where you can sample and buy regional sweets and local products.
The whole day runs about seven hours. Both the boat tour to the pools and the jeep ride to Carro Quebrado are optional and must be booked in cash on the day with your guide, neither is pre-paid. The Beach Club facilities charge a local fee (children under 12 are free). Bring sunscreen, a swim suit, and shoes suitable for walking. The tour runs in any weather unless conditions force a reschedule.
