The experience
You leave Barreirinhas in a private 4×4 vehicle that crosses the Preguiças River by ferry to reach the park's 155,000 hectares of white dunes and freshwater lagoons. The drive off-road takes about 35 minutes before you stop at the foot of the dunes. A light 10-minute walk brings you to Blue Lagoon, where you have free time to swim, sunbathe and take in the landscape. The water sits between the dunes and stays cool year-round, and the lagoon itself is the best one accessible during this season.
After Blue Lagoon, the tour pauses at a local restaurant where you can order lunch (not included in the tour price) and rest before the next leg. Then you drive about an hour to the Circuit Lagoa Bonita. The guide leads a light climb up the dunes. Nothing steep, but enough to earn the view. Once you reach the ridge, the panorama opens: the whole park spreads below you, and Bonita Lagoa sits in the middle. You have free time to swim, photograph and sit with the view before the tour ends.
