The experience
Guriú's mangrove trail is the anchor, but the route builds around what the west coast actually offers: a ferry crossing, off-road dune runs, and two water features (a toboggan and a zipline) that break up the driving. The nine stops string together in a single afternoon, each one a different kind of terrain or a moment to get out and move. You're not watching the landscape from a window. The tour is built so you stop, walk, climb or slide at most of them.
The vehicle choice matters because the terrain changes. A buggy or ATV handles the dune runs and the tighter mangrove sections. A Toyota Hilux 4x4 carries more people and sits higher on the rougher stretches. Whichever you pick, the driver knows the route and the timing. Five to six hours is what it takes to hit all nine stops and get back before the light goes. The mandatory finish at Guriú is for the photos: the mangrove roots there are exposed and sculptural, the kind of thing that stops people mid-stride.
Pickup from your accommodation is included, and the guide speaks Portuguese. Service animals are welcome, and specialized infant seats are available if you're traveling with a baby.

Top questions
What exactly is the Guriú mangrove trail like?
Guriú is a short walk through mangroves where the roots grow above ground in thick, twisted formations: the operator calls them aerial roots. It's the mandatory photo stop at the end of the tour, and it's why the route finishes there instead of elsewhere on the coast.
Can I choose which vehicle I want for the tour?
Yes. You pick between a buggy for up to four people, an ATV for up to two, or a Toyota Hilux 4x4 for up to four. The choice depends on how many are in your group and which terrain you want to experience most directly.
How long does the tour actually take?
Five to six hours total, including all nine stops and the return to your hotel. The time covers the driving, the ferry crossing, and the time you spend at each stop: the water slide, the zipline, the lagoon and the mangrove walk.
Is this tour suitable if I'm not in great shape?
The operator lists it as suitable for all physical fitness levels, though it's not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health. Most of the day is in the vehicle. The walking sections are short stops at each site.
