Step-by-step itinerary
Explore Iguassu Falls and Bird Park
- Visit Bird Park and see local birds
- Take helicopter flight over falls
- Walk Brazilian Falls trails and viewpoints
- Experience Macuco Safari boat ride
The experience
The day starts at the Bird Park, an Integrated Conservation Center for Atlantic Forest birds near Iguaçu National Park. You walk through native forest trails connecting aviaries and large cages housing 120 bird species, many endangered, plus spaces for reptiles and butterflies. The walk takes an average of 1–2 hours depending on your pace. After the park, you move to the helipad for a safety briefing and equipment check, then board the helicopter for a flight directly over the Brazilian National Park and the falls themselves: a completely different view of the waterfalls from above.
The main Brazilian Falls tour follows, where you see the full spectacle of 275 waterfalls set into subtropical forest. The biggest is Devil's Throat, a single drop of 90 meters whose water volume creates a visible mist from kilometers away. You walk a 1-kilometer course on foot with lookouts, lift bridges and souvenir shops. Wild animals like the Quati roam the park, and birds and butterflies move through the canopy. The tour ends with Macuco Safari, a boat ride on the Iguaçu River rapids that brings you close to the falls from the water. Before boarding, you ride in an open electric car through the park's fauna and flora, then hike 600 meters into the jungle to discover Macuco Falls before the boat ride itself.
A private car with mineral water is included for transport between stops. The guide stays with you throughout and adjusts the pace to your walking speed, so the experience is unhurried. Entrance fees to the national park are separate, as is lunch during the tours.
