The experience
The tour starts in the historic center, where you walk through the Belvedere, Rosário Church and Curitiba Memorial before moving to Praça Tiradentes: the city's founding point, marked by the cathedral. You'll see the Palace of Liberty Cultural Center, a 1915 city hall converted into a cultural space with a café, and Praça Santos Andrade, which once hosted bullfights and now holds the historic UFPR building and Guaíra Theater. The guide points out Rua das Flores, Brazil's first pedestrian mall from 1972, and Passeio Público, the city's oldest park built in a reclaimed flooded area.
The afternoon shifts to Curitiba's green spaces and landmarks. You'll see the Botanical Garden with its impeccable gardens and the Galeria das 4 Estações, where Vivaldi plays continuously: the most visited spot in the city. The Oscar Niemeyer Museum gets an external visit. The architect's "Eye Museum" is the largest contemporary art museum in Latin America. You'll pass through the Polish neighborhood with its reassembled immigrant houses, then head to Santa Felicidade, the Italian quarter founded in 1878, where you visit a wine cellar for a tasting of colonial wines and have free time to eat lunch on your own at one of the neighborhood's all-you-can-eat pasta restaurants.
The tour ends at two of Curitiba's most recognizable postcards. The Wire Opera House sits on a lake, built from metal and glass with a restaurant and floating stage for live music. You can walk inside and even step onto the stage (closed on event days). Tanguá Park, the final stop, features an artificial waterfall and a viewpoint over a heavily wooded section of the city. The whole day runs seven to eight hours including travel time between sites, with pickup included and an accredited guide handling all the stops.
