The experience
The tour starts at a traditional bar overlooking the sunset and the Hercílio Luz Bridge, where you taste a caipirinha and try one of the city's seasonal dishes. From there you move to Armazém Rita Maria, a restored 19th-century port complex now serving as the city's main food hall, where the group stops for a photo with the bridge in the background. The route then takes you to Amazon Fruit Bowls for acai, fresh tropical fruit and Amazonian specialties like duck with tucupi sauce and cupuaçu ice cream.
The Public Market is where you try sugar cane juice and coxinha, a local fried pastry. At Box 32, the market's most traditional bar, you sample fresh oysters, shellfish pastel and cachaça, the national sugar cane spirit. A stop at StreetMe Coffee includes a guided tasting session, and the tour finishes in the city's Samba Corner with fried cassava and a toast with local beer.

The Budget Group option includes smaller tastings at each stop and gives you the choice to buy larger items on your own.
