Sarajevo to Belgrade: Tour With Visegrad & Drvengrad
A transfer that becomes a journey through three film-set villages
This is a guided transfer from Sarajevo to Belgrade (or vice versa) that stops at three major sites in Eastern Bosnia and Western Serbia: the UNESCO-protected Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge in Visegrad, Andricgrad (a stone village built by filmmaker Emir Kusturica), and Drvengrad (a wooden ethnic village on a hilltop). The tour runs 12 to 14 hours with an English-speaking driver-guide, hotel pickup, and bottled water. Entrance fees to the attractions and meals are not included, and the optional narrow-gauge railway ride at Mokra Gora is paid separately on the spot.

The experience
The day starts at 8:00 a.m. from your hotel in Sarajevo (or from the Meet Bosnia Agency office at Gazi Husrev Begova 75 if you arrange it there). You'll travel with an English-speaking guide in an air-conditioned vehicle, stopping first in Visegrad to see the Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge, a 16th-century Ottoman structure completed in 1577 and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The bridge spans the Drina River and was built by the court architect Mimar Sinan on the order of the Grand Vizier. It's the landmark that gives the region its historical weight.
From there you move to Andricgrad, a stone village built from scratch by filmmaker Emir Kusturica near the bridge, designed as a film set for his adaptation of Ivo Andrić's novel "The Bridge on the Drina." The village sits between the bridge and the Rzav River confluence. Next is Drvengrad, a wooden ethnic village on the Mećavnik hilltop, also created by Kusturica using authentic log cabins transported from the region: some dating back 90 years. You'll have free time here for lunch. At Mokra Gora, you'll pass through a nature park and see the Šarganska Eight, a narrow-gauge railway famous for its engineering. Riding the train is optional and costs extra, decided on the spot. The journey ends with drop-off at your Belgrade hotel in the evening.
This product works as a transfer because it gets you from one city to another, but the stops transform it into a day of travel. You're not on a sightseeing tour with scheduled activities at each site. You're moving through the landscape with a guide who knows the history, stopping long enough to walk and look. The pace is set by the route itself, not by a tour operator's itinerary.
