The experience
You're picked up from your hotel or Sarajevo City Hall at 10:00 and driven to Visoko, a historic town in a green valley. The route takes about 30 kilometres north-west of the city. Once there, your guide walks you through the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun, a hill that has sparked debate among geologists, archaeologists and alternative researchers. Rather than settling the argument, the guide lays out the different claims and what the evidence says, so you form your own view as you stand on the site.
From the pyramid, you descend into the Ravne Tunnels: a network of passages dug into the earth that stay cool year-round. The tunnels are the physical heart of the tour. You walk through them at a relaxed pace, moving through the passages that have been excavated over decades. After the tunnels, you emerge into Park Ravne 2, a forest park with walking paths, small ponds and art installations scattered through the trees. The whole day runs five to six hours, with the remaining time spent on the drive to and from Sarajevo. There's a coffee stop in Visoko built into the schedule.
The private car and entrance fees are included, so there's no stopping to buy tickets or negotiate transport once you arrive. Your guide speaks English throughout. The pace is easy enough for all fitness levels, and children from age three are welcome on the tour.

Top questions

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What exactly is the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun?
The Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun is a hill in Visoko that has become the centre of competing theories. Geologists describe it as a natural formation shaped by erosion. Other researchers claim it was built as a pyramid by an ancient civilization. Your guide presents both views and the evidence behind them, letting you draw your own conclusion as you walk the site.
What are the Ravne Tunnels like to walk through?
The Ravne Tunnels are a network of passages dug into the earth beneath the pyramid site. They stay cool all year and you walk through them at an easy pace. The tunnels are the main physical experience of the tour: a chance to move through the excavated passages and see the scale of the digging work firsthand.
How much of the day is spent driving versus at the sites?
The tour runs five to six hours total. Visoko is 30 kilometres north-west of Sarajevo, so the remaining hours after your time at the pyramid, tunnels and park are spent on the drive to and from the city. There's a coffee break in Visoko built into the schedule.
Is lunch included in the tour?
Lunch is not included in the standard tour. You have time for coffee in Visoko, and there's a separate option available at checkout that adds a meal to your booking if you prefer.
