The experience

The dive starts from your hotel pickup and heads out to two of Bonaire's sites, each one chosen on the morning of your dive based on what the conditions allow and what you came to see. If you want to spend time in the coral gardens, that's where you go. If drop-offs are your draw, the guide steers there instead. The two tanks take about five hours total, with a surface interval between them long enough to catch your breath, drink water and eat a snack without feeling rushed.

An experienced guide leads both dives, staying with you the whole time and pointing out the marine life as it appears: turtles, eagle rays, the reef itself. The boat holds just you and the guide, so there's no jostling for position or waiting for a group to move on. The focus stays on your comfort and what you actually want to do underwater, not on fitting you into a schedule built for eight people.

You'll need at least a moderate level of fitness for the activity. The operator does not recommend this dive for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or pregnancy. Bring your dive certification card. The guide speaks English throughout, and hotel pickup is included in the booking.
