The Experience

Your guide, who follows the latest research on the topic, walks you through the dive plan and answers questions before you gear up. The setup takes time because night diving requires precision: you'll check your equipment carefully, and the guide will brief you on the exact moment to enter the water, which matters because bioluminescence is strongest at a specific point in the evening.

Once underwater, you move slowly and deliberately. Every motion—a hand through the water, a fin stroke, even exhaled bubbles—triggers a cascade of light from the organisms around you. The guide carries a specialized divelight and knows where to position the group to see the most bioluminescence. You'll see ostracods and other creatures that glow on contact, creating an effect unlike anything most divers ever experience. The guide stays close, pointing out details and making sure everyone in the group gets a clear view. This is not a fast-paced dive; it's built for observation.

The dive light, air tank and bottled water are included; you bring your certification card. If you don't have your own gear, you can rent a full set at checkout for an additional fee.
