The Experience

The catamaran leaves with a local guide who talks you through the scenic shorelines and bays as the boat winds around the islands Bermuda was once called the Devils Isles. The upper deck is open to sun, and a shaded open-air deck below offers relief if you want it. Music plays on the cruise back, and the crew is there to chat with—this is not a silent ride.

Once anchored at the island hideaway, the water and the equipment are yours to use however you want. Snorkel gear, kayaks, paddleboards and noodles for flotation sit ready on board. If you're a competent swimmer, you can snorkel the vibrant coral reef that surrounds the anchorage; if you prefer to paddle, the kayaks and paddleboards are first come, first serve. The nearby beaches are secluded enough to swim without the boat traffic. If none of that appeals, the Dark N' Stormy boat bar is open with your complimentary drink, and the deck chairs work fine too.

Getting back into the water requires using a step ladder with limited assistance, so mobility in and out matters more than swimming distance. Water shoes are recommended because the reef and the sand have their own texture. The crew is competent and professional, and the boat runs subject to weather and a minimum number of participants—public transportation options are nearby if you need to get to the departure point.
