The experience
The day starts with your captain taking you out to his favorite spot on the southern barrier reef. You snorkel first, then fish for snapper, grouper, barracuda, lion fish, or seasonal lobster and conch. After you've caught what you want, the boat heads to a private island where your guide cooks your catch right on the beach in front of you, grilled with sides, while you rest in the sand. The meal is the centerpiece: fresh, simple, and the reason you came.
After lunch you have the afternoon to swim or snorkel again before heading back to the mainland. The whole day runs seven hours. Snorkeling and fishing gear are provided, along with bottled water, snacks and national park fees. Your guide speaks English or Spanish and manages the boat, the cooking and the logistics. You show up ready to be in the water and hungry.

Is this one for you?You do the snorkeling and fishing yourself (this is not a watching tour), so it suits anyone who wants to be active in the water and doesn't mind a full day on a boat. The private island and the cooked meal make it intimate enough for a couple or a small family, and the minimum of two people keeps groups manageable.
