The experience
Hopkins Village pickup happens at 8:30 a.m., and you'll arrive at the ATV base by 9:00 to meet your guide and get fitted with helmet and gear. The orientation covers ATV operation and safety, then you're on the trails by 9:15. The ride itself is the core of the day: you navigate lush jungle terrain, weaving through tropical plants and forest, with the guide leading the way and pointing out wildlife along the route. This is not a sightseeing tour where someone else drives. You operate the ATV the whole time.
Around 10:00 a.m., the trails open onto Mayan King Waterfalls, a natural pool fed by a powerful cascade. You have time to swim, cool off and explore before the ride back to base. The return trip covers the same jungle route, and you're dropped at your Hopkins accommodation by 12:15 p.m. The whole outing runs about four hours from pickup to drop-off.
An air-conditioned vehicle handles the transport to and from the ATV base, so you're not riding in the heat before or after the activity itself. Bottled water is provided throughout the day.
