A live guide speaks English or Spanish.

The experience

You spend eight hours on the water fishing grounds that shift based on weather and where you start. Most days stay inside the reef or the channels, but when conditions allow, the boat heads just outside the main reef. The fishing itself mixes two methods: bottom fishing for snappers, jacks, blue striped grunts and other reef species, and trolling for barracuda and jacks. The guide brings rods, reels, bait and hooks. If you have your own gear, bring it along.

Lunch breaks the day: fresh fruit, chips, tomato and onion salsa, wraps or sandwiches. You can either pull up to a beach to eat or stop at a restaurant in the area if you want something different. The boat carries bottled and pouch purified drinking water and light snacks throughout the day, plus soda or pop. If you want to bring beer or rum, there's cooler space on board (the legal drinking age in Belize is 18).

The guide is fluent in English and Spanish, so language is not a barrier. The activity suits all fitness levels, and families fish alongside experienced anglers on the same grounds.

Is this one for you?Eight hours on the water means you're committed to the full day, which rules out combining this with other activities or a leisurely morning in town, but it also means you fish multiple grounds and have time to chase different species without rushing between stops.
