The experience
The day starts south of Brussels in Dinant, where you'll ride a cable car up to the Citadel perched on a cliff above the Meuse Valley. The fortress holds military history in its stone. From the top, the valley spreads below. You'll see the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame with its distinctive pear-shaped bell tower, walk across the Bridge of Saxophones (named for Adolphe Sax, who was born here and invented the instrument), and taste the Couque de Dinant, a local honey biscuit so dense it lives up to its reputation. A river cruise lets you see the town from the water, a different angle on the same landmarks.
After crossing into Luxembourg, the tour enters a UNESCO World Heritage capital where medieval fortifications sit alongside modern European institutions. The Chemin de la Corniche, often called Europe's most beautiful balcony, offers views down into the Alzette Valley and the Grund district below. You'll visit the Grand Ducal Palace, the official residence at the heart of the old town, and descend into the Bock Casemates, a vast network of underground tunnels that once formed part of one of Europe's most formidable fortresses. The route also passes through Kirchberg, the contemporary district where the European Court of Justice and other EU bodies operate, a sharp contrast to the medieval streets you've just left.
Your guide travels with you throughout, providing context on the history and culture of both destinations. The vehicle is air-conditioned, WiFi is on board, and bottled water is provided. Hotel pickup from Brussels is included, as is the private transportation between all stops.

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What is the Citadel of Dinant and why is it worth the cable car ride?
The Citadel of Dinant is a fortress perched high on a cliff overlooking the Meuse Valley. The cable car takes you to the top, where you can explore its military history and see the valley spread out below from the vantage point.
Can I actually taste the Couque de Dinant, or is it just a sight?
You'll experience the Couque de Dinant as a local treat during the tour. It's a honey biscuit unique to the town, and it's famously firm: part of the charm is discovering what makes it legendary.
What are the Bock Casemates and how much walking is involved?
The Bock Casemates are a vast underground tunnel system that once formed part of Luxembourg's fortress defenses. You'll descend into them to explore this hidden part of the city's military heritage. The tour includes this as a key stop in the afternoon portion.

How much of the day involves walking versus sitting in the vehicle?
The tour balances vehicle time with walking at each stop. You'll walk through Dinant's old town and landmarks, ride the cable car to the Citadel, take a river cruise, and walk through Luxembourg's old town and the Chemin de la Corniche. The pace is steady but manageable, and all areas are wheelchair accessible.
