You'll pass a newly renovated city palace that belonged to a family holding a monopoly on part of the beer trade, then stop at Saint John's Hospital, one of the world's oldest hospitals still standing and a cornerstone of medieval society. The route weaves through the Princely Beguinage Ten Wijngaarde, the largest of its kind, where a community of women has lived together for over 800 years.

At De Halve Maan Brewery, your guide explains how Bruges earned the nickname "Fools of Bruges" and points out the beer pipeline that runs beneath the city streets. The Lake of Love brings stories of swans on the canals and a conflict with Emperor Maximilian of Austria. The Church of Our Lady—the second-tallest brick tower in the world—holds a Michelangelo statue and the tombs of the last Dukes of Burgundy. You'll also walk through the Groeninge Museum garden where Flemish masters' works are displayed, pass the old Tanner's Square where leather was made, and finish at Burg Square, where Bruges began.
