Step-by-step itinerary
Explore Old Dhaka's historic sites
- Visit secret locations
- Explore Armanitola neighbourhood
- Tour Ruplal House mansion
- Discover Northbrook Hall
The experience
Armanitola, the Armenian neighbourhood, anchors the first part of the day. During the 17th and 18th centuries, Armenian merchants migrated to Bengal and built a thriving community here, bringing their own culture, business acumen and traditions that shaped Dhaka's economy, particularly in trade and textiles. You walk through the streets where that history still lives in the architecture and the families who remain.
The Ruplal House sits along the Buriganga River, a late 19th-century mansion built by two affluent merchants and now a window into the grandeur of Dhaka's colonial past. Its European and Mughal architectural blend, grand halls, intricate wooden carvings and spacious courtyards tell the story of the merchant class that once filled the city. Northbrook Hall, inaugurated in 1881 as a town hall and cultural center during the British colonial period, carries the same weight of that era. Both buildings are part of the nine secret locations you enter during the day.
The tour runs nine hours and moves by private vehicle between stops. Your guide shapes the pace and the storytelling around the group, which never exceeds eight people. Pickup happens from your hotel, and the route is walkable between locations once you arrive at each neighbourhood. Bottled water is provided throughout the day.

Is this one for you?The small group size and private transport mean you move at a pace set by the eight or fewer guests on your departure, not by a fixed schedule or a larger crowd. This suits anyone who wants to linger in a courtyard or ask the guide about the details without feeling rushed, and it keeps the experience intimate enough that the storytelling feels personal rather than performed.
