Taste three Viennese wines in the city's deepest cellar, then pair them with spreads from a family-owned delicatessen.

A guided wine tasting in Vienna's hidden, non-public wine cellar—with foundations dating back to the Romans—where you taste three different Viennese and Austrian wines paired with local snacks. A professional wine expert leads the 45-minute experience in English or German; a shorter 30-minute self-guided option with audioguide and one glass of wine is also available. Minimum drinking age is 16; not suitable for those with mobility issues due to multiple floors to climb.

The Experience

Vienna has cultivated wine within the city for two thousand years, a legacy that began when Romans first settled here. Around 700 hectares of vineyards still grow inside the urban area today, and the cellar you're entering holds that history in its walls. A professional wine expert will guide you down into the city's deepest and non-public wine cellar to explore what remains of that ancient viticulture and how it shaped Viennese wine as it exists now.

You'll taste three different wines—classic Viennese varieties alongside other Austrian selections—each paired with small bites from the in-house, family-owned delicatessen. The tasting lasts 45 minutes and runs in English or German, depending on which option you choose at checkout. If you prefer a shorter experience, the self-guided cellar tour takes 30 minutes and includes one glass of local wine; you'll bring your own smartphone and headphones to follow the audioguide through the space.

The cellar sits directly in Vienna's city center and is accessible by public transportation. Infants and small children can come in a pram or stroller, and service animals are welcome. The descent involves climbing several floors, so it's not suitable for people with mobility limitations. The minimum drinking age is 16.
