The Experience

The tour picks you up from your Vienna hotel and drives about 30 minutes into rolling vineyard country. On the way, your English-speaking guide explains the region itself—the people, the landscape, the grapes that grow here. Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling and Zweigelt are the varieties you'll taste, and by the end of the morning or afternoon you'll recognize them without thinking about it.

At each of the three wineries, you meet the winemaker who owns the place. They pour their own wines and tell you their story—how long they've worked the land, what makes their cellar different, why they chose these grapes. You taste 4 glasses at each stop, which means you're tasting deliberately, not rushing. Water and snacks come with the tasting so you're not drinking on an empty stomach. The small group size is what makes this work: there's room to ask questions and the winemaker isn't managing a crowd.

After the third winery, you sit down to a two-course traditional Austrian meal at that location. Morning tours include lunch; afternoon tours include dinner.
