Snorkeling in Bondi Beach, Sydney with guide and equipment
See what's beneath Bondi's surface with a guide who knows where to look
Guided snorkeling at Bondi with an experienced instructor, snorkeling equipment and air-conditioned transport to one of several sites depending on conditions. The session runs about one hour in the water, with instruction built around your swimming ability—beginners and confident swimmers both get what they need. Children from age 12 are welcome.
The Experience
The morning starts at Dive Centre Bondi, where the team fits you with snorkeling gear and goes over how everything works before you head down to the water. The site changes based on weather and sea conditions—Gordons Bay, Clovelly Pool, Little Bay and Malabar Beach are the regular choices, and the guides take requests. An air-conditioned vehicle gets you there.
Once in the water, you spend about an hour with a local guide who points out what lives on the reef: schools of fish, octopus, seahorses, rays and the resident blue grouper. If you're new to snorkeling, the instructor stays close and shows you how to move and breathe through the tube. If you're not a confident swimmer, you can hold on to a life ring for stability while the guide narrates what's around you. The pace is yours—the guide reads the group and adjusts.
The whole outing takes four hours from start to finish. Guides speak English, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Simplified Chinese, so language isn't a barrier to understanding what you're seeing.
