Sydney has 600 fish species in its waters, and you'll see them from inside the reserve.

A private snorkeling tour in Sydney's Bronte-Coogee Aquatic Reserve with a certified local guide who adjusts the route and pace to your swimming ability. The guide points out marine life, teaches you about it, and photographs the highlights. Equipment—mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit and optional flotation aids—is provided and fitted before you enter the water. The tour runs 90 minutes, mostly spent in the water.

The Experience

The Bronte-Coogee Aquatic Reserve is where most of your time happens—in the water, watching blue gropers and cuttlefish move through kelp forests and rugged reefs. Your certified guide leads you over routes based on what marine life has been active in the days before your booking, so the path changes with the conditions. They point out what you're seeing, teach you about the species, and handle the camera work so you can focus on the moment instead of the logistics.

Before you enter the water, the guide helps you fit your wetsuit, mask, snorkel and fins, and checks that everything works. If you're new to snorkeling or less confident in the water, they adjust the pace and depth to match your comfort. Experienced snorkelers get routes that suit their interests and abilities. Floatation support and weight belts are available for anyone who wants them.

The tour is private, which means the guide tailors the whole experience to you or your group instead of managing a fixed schedule for strangers. Once you book, you'll work with the guide to set preferences before the day. After snorkeling, you have time to walk the Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk, rest at Clovelly Beach, or grab a meal nearby—your guide will have recommendations. If conditions at Clovelly aren't safe that day, the tour runs at Little Bay Beach instead.

What’s included

  • a certified local guide trained in advanced first aid who tailors the route and pace to your ability.

Is this one for you?The tour spends most of its 90 minutes in the water, so you need to be comfortable entering the ocean and moving through it with a guide—this suits swimmers of all levels, since the guide adjusts the depth and pace, but not travelers who prefer to stay dry or watch from the shore.
