Step-by-step itinerary

Snorkel and relax at hot springs

  • Swim with Australian Fur Seals
  • Cross entry to Port Phillip Bay
  • See seabirds and marine wildlife
  • Cruise alongside Sorrento and Portsea
  • Explore Ticonderoga Bay Dolphin Sanctuary
  • Relax at Peninsula Hot Springs Bath House

The experience

You'll spend two hours in the water with a live guide leading the snorkel, moving through some of the Mornington Peninsula's most active marine zones. The boat takes you past the rugged Port Phillip Heads, where Bass Strait meets the bay, then into calmer waters where the seals congregate. You'll see Australian Fur Seals at close range, watch for Weedy Sea Dragons among the kelp, and spot seabirds diving for prey. The guide points out seasonal wildlife (migrating humpback whales, dolphins, shy albatross) depending on the time of year. Qualified snorkel instructors are onboard throughout, so you're never alone in the water.

Everything you need is provided: wetsuits, flippers, mask and snorkel fitted to your size. Lunch and refreshments come onboard, so you eat after the snorkel while the boat cruises back. Marine Park fees and fuel surcharge are built into the price. Once you're back on land, you head straight to Peninsula Hot Springs with your included bathing pass. The Bath House has multiple thermal pools at different temperatures, so you can soak, warm up and explore at your own pace after the cold water.

Is this one for you? This is a shared-group snorkel led by instructors, so you're in the water doing the activity yourself rather than watching from a boat. It suits anyone with a free afternoon on the peninsula who wants to see seals and sea dragons up close and doesn't have their own snorkel gear or a car to reach the hot springs separately.
