The experience
You arrive at Escapegoat Goat Shed for a complimentary coffee and cake, get briefed on the e-bike and its pedal-assist system, then pick your own route for the day. A preloaded GPS unit handles navigation so you don't waste time working out where to go. The bikes are Bosch-powered hardtails and dual-suspension models with 10-speed gearing and a range up to 100km: enough to ride all day without running out of power. Helmets are included.
The ride itself is built around what the pedal-assist does: climb effortlessly through Belair National Park, where koalas, kangaroos and emus are common sightings, then roll through the Adelaide Hills to Cleland Conservation Park or Mark Olliphant Conservation Park depending on your choice. Mount Lofty sits at the summit of the route, with views down to Adelaide and the coast. The whole day takes around five hours, but you set the speed and decide which stops matter to you.
Wine tasting and a local produce platter lunch happen at either Tapanappa Wines or Deviation Road. You pick which winery suits the day. The self-guided format means no fixed schedule and no group waiting for stragglers. You ride at your own pace on terrain that suits your fitness level. English-language support is available if you need it.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (12 to 17 years). Children under 12 can't be included in the booking.
Can I see koalas and other wildlife on this ride?
Belair National Park is where you're most likely to spot them. Koalas, kangaroos and emus are all common in the park, especially on the easier spin through the trails at the start of the day.
What happens if I run out of battery on the e-bike?
The Bosch-powered bikes have a range up to 100km, which is enough for a full day of riding in the Adelaide Hills. Even with pedal-assist on climbs, the battery is designed to last the whole route without needing a charge.
Do I have to visit both national parks, or can I choose?
You pick your route on the day. The GPS unit is preloaded with a recommended route, but you decide whether to do an easy spin through Belair only or add Cleland Conservation Park and the longer ride to Mount Lofty. It's entirely up to you.
Which winery should I choose for lunch?
Tapanappa Wines and Deviation Road are both options for your wine tasting and local produce platter lunch. Either one works with the route. Pick whichever appeals to you when you start the ride.
Is this suitable if I've never ridden an e-bike before?
Yes. The briefing at Escapegoat Goat Shed covers how the pedal-assist works and how to handle the bike. The self-guided format means you ride at your own pace on terrain you choose, so you can start easy and build confidence through the day.
