The experience

Pindarie sits on the Western Ridge of the Barossa, and the walk starts with your guide leading you uphill through the vines to Schoff's Hill. The climb is leisurely and the payoff is a 360-degree view across the valley and the farm itself. On the way back down, you move through the vineyards and learn how the sustainable farming works here: the seasonal detail shifts, so what you see and hear changes depending on when you book.

The tasting happens inside the heritage Stables, a restored stone building where you'll encounter Pindarie's full lineup: Montepulciano, Sangiovese and Tempranillo sit alongside the classic Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, all grown on the property. A cheese board comes with the tasting, and you'll learn how the newer white Fiano fits into what they're doing. The whole thing is unhurried. There's no rushing through the wines.

Lunch is the finale: a seasonal grazing spread served while you're settled into a spot with the Barossa ranges and vineyards spread out in front of you. A glass of estate wine comes with it, and the whole experience wraps around 1:30pm, though lingering is built into the rhythm of the day.

  • private wine tasting of estate-grown Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Tempranillo, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Black Hinge and Fiano with a cheese board.
