The Experience
The tour starts at Pambula Lake, Broadwater, where you push off in a kayak with an expert guide who knows the river's ecology and history. The paddle takes you toward the Pambula River Mouth, moving through water that passes Beowa National Park. This is not a sightseeing float: you are paddling the whole way, and the guide watches for pelicans, herons, sea eagles, egrets, sandpipers and oystercatchers as they appear. The birds are real and frequent enough that spotting them is the point, not a bonus.
Partway through, you pull ashore at a beach for morning tea. The spread includes sweets, tea, coffee and juice, and you have time to leave the kayak and swim if you want. The guide uses this stop to talk about oyster farming on the Pambula River — a working part of the landscape you have just paddled through. The whole tour runs three hours, which means you are back by mid-morning and the rest of your day is open.
The guide is live and speaks English, and children from age 8 are welcome. You need at least a moderate level of fitness to paddle for three hours, and the tour is not suitable for travelers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health. All fees, taxes, kayak and equipment are included.

Is this one for you?The three-hour length means you paddle and rest without eating up your whole morning, leaving the afternoon free for other plans. Book this if you want to be in the water and moving the whole time, not watching from a boat — and if naming the birds as they pass matters more than covering distance.
