Jigamy to Pinnacles trail: Aboriginal cultural walk
The Keeping Place at Jigamy is where the walk begins, not where the stories end.
The Bilbaan Cultural Experience is a 3.9km guided walk from Jigamy to the Pinnacles in New South Wales, led by Aboriginal Country Custodians along a section of the Bundian Way. You start with a traditional smoking ceremony at Jigamy, then traverse coastal bushlands to the Pinnacles geological feature while learning about local plants, cultural practices and the knowledge systems that have sustained the land for thousands of years. National Park entry is included. The walk takes around 3 hours and suits families with children from age 8 onward. Transfers from Eden Wharf are included for cruise passengers, and a free return transfer runs from Pinnacles back to Jigamy.

The experience
The walk opens with a smoking ceremony at Jigamy, the site of the Keeping Place, before you step onto a section of the Bundian Way itself: an ancient route woven through Aboriginal culture and geography. Your guide is a Country Custodian, someone with deep knowledge of this land and its stories, and the 3.9km trail unfolds through coastal bushlands that shift between dense vegetation and sudden ocean views. The route is steady but not strenuous, and the pace leaves room for your guide to stop and point out plants used in traditional practice, to explain the cultural significance of landmarks, and to share the ways of knowing that have held this country for thousands of years.
The Pinnacles themselves (a striking geological formation rising from the coast) mark the end of this section of the Bundian Way. Getting there is the walk. Standing there is the arrival. Your guide shapes what you notice and what it means, so the experience is not a solo hike with a view but a conversation between you and someone whose family has lived this knowledge. Children from age 8 can join, and the moderate fitness level the operator notes reflects the distance and the terrain, not a barrier for most walkers in reasonable health.
If you are arriving by cruise ship, transfers run from Eden Wharf to Jigamy at the start and back from Pinnacles to the wharf at the end, so the logistics are already arranged. National Park entry is built into the price. The return transfer from Pinnacles means you do not retrace your steps on foot.
