The Experience

The Captain Cook Highway winds north from Port Douglas and you're already noticing things—the light changes, the air thickens, the trees get older. Your driver shares the history as you go, and then the Daintree River appears. You board a cruise that moves slowly enough that you actually see what's there: estuarine crocodiles sunning on the banks, snakes in the branches, frogs calling from the water.
