The Experience
The day starts with hotel pickup and a drive to Broome airfield. Once airborne, the flight path crosses Chinatown and Roebuck Bay before heading inland over the Kimberley plains to Mount Hart station, a historic outback property where you'll have morning tea while taking in the remote landscape. From there, the aircraft climbs toward the King Leopold Ranges—three hundred kilometres of rugged, spinifex-covered ridges and escarpments—to reach Mitchell Falls, a series of four waterfalls that run year-round at varying intensity. The pilot positions the aircraft for clear views from your window.
The route then follows the Prince Regent River to King Cascade Falls, which sits at approximately fifty metres above sea level, before passing over Montgomery Islands and Montgomery Reef. As the tide falls, the reef gradually emerges from the ocean with water cascading through numerous channels; tidal differences in the Kimberley reach over ten metres during a spring tide cycle. Next comes Horizontal Falls, a fast-moving tidal flow through two narrow gorges in Talbot Bay that reverses direction with each change of tide. The aircraft weaves through the islands of Cockatoo and Koolan before reaching Cape Leveque, where red rock cliffs meet white sand and blue water.
The tour includes a landing at a family-owned pearl farm on the Dampier Peninsula, where you'll hear the history of Australian pearling from its Indigenous roots through four generations of the Brown family since 1946, followed by a gourmet lunch. On the return flight down the Dampier Peninsula, you'll see the communities of Lombadina, Beagle Bay, James Price Point and Willie Creek before landing back in Broome near sunset.
