The journey starts at Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm, where you arrive and choose whether to tour the pearl farm that day or save it for your last morning. The property sits on the remote home of Australia's pearling pioneers, and you'll sleep in an eco safari tent both nights, with the bistro, pool and walking tracks available between your days on the water.
On day two, the Ohana departs early from Cygnet Bay. Breakfast comes as you cruise up the coast past Hidden Island, Silica Beach, Cockatoo Island and Koolan Island—ancient rock formations billions of years old, and a working landscape where you might spot flying fish, sea eagles, dolphins, turtles and humpback whales. Your guide shares the region's history and the Kimberley's geography as you head toward Talbot Bay. When you reach the Horizontal Falls, you transfer to tender vessels to get close to the tidal phenomenon itself. The falls shift with the tides and are ever-changing; the operator cannot guarantee the flow rate on arrival, but the sight holds regardless. You do not traverse the gap due to safety and cultural respect for the Dambeemangarddee people, the traditional landowners. After that, a 7-course feast of Western Australian seafood and locally sourced ingredients waits on deck, prepared by the ship's chef while you take in the views and process what you've seen.
The return to Cygnet Bay comes in the afternoon. You step back onto land, return to your eco safari tent, and spend the evening reflecting on the day.
