The route starts with views of Port Phillip Bay and Melbourne's skyline, then follows the Bay Trail past beachside homes toward Brighton Baths: an enclosed saltwater swimming facility built in 1881. From there you head inland through Elsternwick Park and along Elwood Canal, cycling the local streets of Elwood and St Kilda before reaching the St Kilda Botanical Gardens. The pace is relaxed. The paths are flat and easy to ride.

Acland Street comes next, lined with European cake shops and eateries where you can stop and look around. Luna Park sits on the route (an amusement park you'll pass and see), then the tour returns to the Bay Trail to experience the local seaside life at St Kilda, Elwood and Brighton Beaches. A coffee or ice cream break happens at Royal Brighton Yacht Club, where you can watch the local yachts in the bay. The tour ends at Greens Point after a final stop at the iconic colourful Brighton Beach Boxes.
