The experience
The tour runs two days and moves between Katherine's main attractions without requiring a rental car or separate bookings for each site. Day one starts at the Katherine Museum for an hour of local history and art, then moves to the water: a boat cruise through Nitmiluk National Park's Katherine Gorge, where the guide points out the landscape and wildlife as you travel by water. Swimming at Katherine hot springs and Edith Falls fills the afternoon, with time to walk into the bush around the falls.
Day two centers on Nitmiluk National Park and a second swim at Edith Falls, with the option of an Adelaide River crocodile cruise if the group chooses it. The guide leads walks through the park and explains the country (its geology, plants and history) as you move through it. Buffet lunch and snacks come both days, and the small-group size (minimum six people) means the pace stays manageable and the guide can answer questions as you go.
The tour operates with a live English-speaking guide and includes hotel pickup from Katherine. National Park entry fees ($15) and the optional crocodile cruise ($150) are separate, so you can decide on the cruise when you book or after you arrive.
