The Experience

You arrive at the main office in Oranjestad for a safety briefing, then head out on your own UTV into desert terrain toward Alto Vista Chapel, a small Catholic chapel perched on the hills above the north shore. Built originally by a Venezuelan missionary in 1750 and rebuilt in 1952, it sits isolated and quiet, offering views across the landscape before you drive back down to the next stop. The Bushiribana Gold Mill Ruins come next: a 19th-century structure standing against the Atlantic cliffs, a remnant of the island's gold-mining era when the industry moved millions of pounds through the site. You'll stop to explore and photograph the weathered stonework.

The route then passes the site of the Natural Bridge, a coral limestone arch that collapsed in 2005 but remains a landmark stop on the tour. From there you drive across the Andicuri Hills on rough off-road terrain, then reach Blackstone Beach, where sharp black pebbles and eroded stones line the shore: a quiet, secluded spot where swimming is not recommended due to strong currents. The final stop is Mangel Halto Beach on the southwestern coast, a shallow, calm bay known for snorkeling. If you want to get in the water, this is where it's safe. The tour includes snorkeling access here, and you'll have time to explore before heading back.
