The experience

The tour starts at the Aruba Tourism Plaza in Oranjestad with a photo stop at the big sign, then your guide (born and raised on the island) walks you through the town's history and culture before heading north. You'll spend time at the Bushiribana Gold Mill Ruins, an open-air smelter site that marks Aruba's colonial gold rush era, then move on to the giant boulder formations where you can climb to viewpoints and scan for the Shoco, Aruba's protected burrowing owl. When cactus fruit is in season, you'll taste it fresh.

The Natural Bridge comes next, one of Aruba's most recognizable landmarks on the rugged north coast. You get a short break to browse the local souvenir shop and eat a complimentary traditional Aruban breakfast snack: pastechis and other local fare. The tour wraps at the Aruba Aloe Factory, where you'll learn how the island grows and harvests aloe, then transforms it into skincare products. You can sample and shop the locally made range. The 4x4 is air-conditioned throughout, and your guide adjusts stops and pacing to match your group's interests and energy.
