Cook dolma and other Armenian specialties alongside the family who makes them

A 2.5-hour cooking masterclass in Yerevan where you prepare traditional Armenian dishes with a local family, then sit down to eat what you've made with wine and other drinks. The class covers recipe secrets and cooking techniques for dishes like dolma (grape leaves stuffed with rice and meat), and ends with food, drinks and music.

The experience

Two and a half hours in a family kitchen teaches you how to make the dishes that define Armenian tables. You'll work through the steps of traditional recipes, starting with dolma, learning the techniques and ingredient combinations that have been passed down. The family walks you through each stage, so you understand not just what to do but why the recipe works the way it does.

After cooking, you sit down to a proper meal: the dishes you've made, plus other Armenian specialties, served with wine and other drinks. The evening includes music and dancing to Armenian songs, so it's as much about the rhythm of a family gathering as it is about the food itself. A guide fluent in English, French, Arabic or Russian is there throughout, and pickup from your hotel is included in the price.
