The experience
The day starts with pickup at 8 a.m. and a two-hour drive along Route 40 through vineyards, plantations and river valleys to reach the farm. A typical Creole breakfast waits in the main house (toasted homemade bread, scrambled eggs, cold cuts, coffee, tea and mate) to fuel you before you meet your horse at the corrals. From there you ride between three-quarters of an hour in total through trails carved into the mountain range, passing through valleys and streams that no vehicle can navigate.
The landscape itself is the route: you move through untouched terrain where sightings of condors, eagles, guanacos and other native animals happen as you ride. Halfway through, the group stops for a Creole barbecue prepared on-site: roasted meat, seasonal vegetables and fresh salads paired with top-level wines from the region. You can request menu adjustments or ask for typical regional recipes when you book. After the break, you ride back to the main house, where a mid-afternoon of coffee, tea, mate, toast and Mendoza pancakes closes the day.
A live guide in your choice of English, Spanish or Portuguese leads the ride and handles all the logistics. The operator adapts the experience to what you need. If you want a different pace or have preferences about the food and wine, let them know at reservation and they'll arrange it. Horses, saddles and the air-conditioned vehicle for the drive are all included.
