A two-hour tango class and wine tasting in Buenos Aires combines 60 minutes of instruction in a traditional immigrant house with homemade empanadas and Argentine Malbec. The experience

The 60-minute tango lesson starts with the basics (footwork, rhythm, how to move with a partner), so you go in with no experience and leave able to dance an actual tango. The instructor teaches you the fundamental steps and timing, and by the end of the class you'll dance a full song with your partner instead of just drilling movements. After the lesson, you stay in the same space to taste homemade empanadas (meat or vegetarian) paired with a typical Argentine Malbec.

The whole experience happens inside a Conventillo, the kind of crowded tenement house where immigrant families lived when they first arrived in Buenos Aires. Seeing how people actually lived there (the tight quarters, the shared spaces) gives the tango lesson its context: this dance came out of those neighborhoods, and you're learning it in the kind of place where it started.
