The experience
The trek starts with hotel pickup in Mendoza and transport into Aconcagua Park, where you'll sleep your first night at Confluencia camp in a geodesic dome. The next morning, breakfast comes before the trek to Plaza Francia: the vantage point where Aconcagua's South Face fills the view. This wall is one of the largest vertical rock faces on earth, and the hike puts you close enough to see why. On day three, you trek down to Horcones and return to Mendoza by vehicle.
A bilingual guide leads the whole route and manages the camp logistics. You'll need moderate fitness for high-altitude trekking: the terrain is rugged and the Andes demand respect. The operator provides meals and accommodation throughout, so you carry only what you need for the hike itself. Trekking boots with Gore-Tex, warm layers, a sleeping bag and hiking poles are essential. The operator's gear list details everything from glacier glasses to a headlamp.
All participants complete a health questionnaire before booking. The trek is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries or pregnant travelers, and some pre-existing conditions (asthma, heart issues) may prevent participation. You'll need a valid passport on the day of travel. The Aconcagua National Park entrance fee is separate from the tour price.

Is this one for you?Three days away from Mendoza means you need that block of time free, but it also means you reach Plaza Francia and sleep in the high country instead of hiking up and back in a single push. The high altitude and rugged terrain demand moderate fitness and proper acclimatization. If you're new to mountain trekking or have any heart or respiratory condition, talk to the operator before booking.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What is the South Face of Aconcagua that I'll see from Plaza Francia?
Aconcagua's South Face is one of the largest vertical rock walls in the world. Plaza Francia is the trekking viewpoint where you stand directly in front of it, giving you an unobstructed view of this colossal face after two days of hiking through the park.
What kind of accommodation do I sleep in during the trek?
You stay in geodesic domes at Confluencia camp on the first night. The camp includes meals and basic services. The operator handles all accommodation logistics so you don't arrange it separately.
Do I need my own trekking gear, or is it provided?
You bring your own trekking boots, clothing layers, sleeping bag, hiking poles and personal items. The operator provides meals, accommodation and all camp services. You're responsible for gear and personal equipment like sunscreen, headlamp and water bottles.
How much hiking happens each day?
Day one is transport to camp with a trek to Confluencia. Day two is the main trek to Plaza Francia. Day three is the trek down to Horcones and then transport back to Mendoza. The exact distances and elevation gain depend on the route, but the operator rates this as moderate-fitness trekking at high altitude.
What languages does the guide speak?
The guide is bilingual and leads the trek in both English and Spanish, so you can follow the route and learn about the park in whichever language suits you.
