The experience

The trek starts with pickup from your hotel in central Mendoza and a bus transfer to the trailhead in the Precordillera near Potrerillos. The hike itself runs 2.5 hours at moderate difficulty, following trails through mountain terrain with views across the Andes. A professional guide stays with your group throughout, pointing out the geology, plant life and stories of the region as you move through the landscape. No previous trekking experience is required, and the route is designed to be accessible while still offering a real mountain experience.

The tour includes box lunch (sandwich, dried fruit, fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables) plus mineral water and juice, eaten on the mountain. Personal accident insurance is covered. If you book the option with rappel, the descent happens after the hike. Rappelling is available only for ages 12 and older. The full day runs about five hours from hotel pickup to return, though the actual trekking is the 2.5-hour middle section.

Bring sports shoes or hiking boots, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and an extra pair of socks. The guide speaks English, Spanish or Portuguese depending on your group.
